Junior Baseball Organization JBO

A program designed for Boys' ages 9 to 14 years old on 08/01/2019 and the continuing development of Baseball fundamental skills. Listed below is an overview of the skills coaches will be expected to teach and athletes should be able to perform the targeted skill for their appropriate grade level at the conclusion of the season. To achieve this goal, every team practice must be structured to continue building on what the athletes were introduced to in Rookies / Minors / Juniors and will need to be able to compete at the Minors / Juniors / Seniors and Molalla High School Baseball levels.

Offensive Skills:

Hitting / Bunting;

Plate Discipline;

Pitch Signs.

Base Running;

Tagging Up;


Defensive Skills:




Position Play;


Ground Play;

Fly Balls / Communication.


Position Play;

Steps / Angle;


Fly Balls / Communication.

Throwing / Catching.

Game Situations:

Bunt Defense;

First and Third Situations;

Cut-Off Situations;

Double Cut Situations.

Team Sportsmanship / Unity;

All skill levels welcome


All assigned athletes will receive hat with registration. / Jersey can be purchased when registering as needed.

All participants will be required to provide their own game pants, belts and socks for the season. The pants will need to be gray in color. Players can choose either the traditional style pants or longer style.


All athletes are required to wear cleats.

  • Seniors 7th - 8th athletes may wear molded or metal cleats.


Athletes residing within the Molalla High School attendance boundary are required by CCJBA policies to register through Molalla Youth Sports.

Player Levels:

Seniors 13 / 14 Years old on 08/01/2019

Team Levels:

Federal, American, and National

Team Selections:

Team selections will be made by MYS Program Representative and MYS coaches.

  • Federal level teams are selected first, followed by American, then National.
  • In the event there are more than one team at a level, teams will be selected on a 1 and 1 draft process.
  • Players will be contacted after teams and practice schedules have been finalized.


TBD through the second / third week in July…unless your child's team progresses onto the County / State

  • Tournaments extending the season into late July / early August.

School Closures

  • No School = Does Not Effect Practice / Game Schedule

Practice: TBD

  • 2-3 weeknights for 1 ½ - 2 hours at Molalla River Middle School.

Games: After May 1st.

  • 2 weeknights.
  • Score Kept / Reported to League


Molalla, Canby, Clackamas, Colton, Country Christian, Gervais, Gladstone, Lake Oswego, Lakeridge, Mid-Valley, Milwaukie, North Marion, Oregon City, Putnam, Redland, Sellwood, Silverton, South Clackamas, West Linn, Whiskey Hill, Wilsonville, Woodburn, Tualatin

Invitational Tournaments:

Teams are encouraged to participate in tournaments on weekends. Teams are responsible for registering and paying tournament entry fees.

County / State Tournaments:

  • Tournament participation fees paid through league fees and no additional expense to families.
  • The 2019 CCJBA County Tournament dates:
  • National, American, and Federal 07/12/19 to 07/14/19

  • The 2019 JBO State Tournament dates:
  • National, American and Federal 07/19/19 to 07/21/19

Assessment Volunteers:

Volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated … contact MYS.

  • Check-In Table = 1 Volunteer
  • Uniform Sizing = 3 Volunteers (2 Jersey, 2 Pant and 1 Floater)
  • Pant Sale / Cleat Exchange = 1 or 2 Volunteers


All registrants are required to attend a mandatory assessment session.

  • All registrants going thru assessments will be placed on a team.
  • Registrants that do not attend will be placed only as room allows.
  • Parents and/or Potential Coaches will not be allowed onto fields.

Assessment Sessions

Seniors … 7th / 8th Grades

All try-out will be held at the Molalla Middle School.

What to bring to Assessments:

All participants should bring the following:

  • 2 pairs of shoes.
  • Cleats for outdoor.
  • Clean gym shoes - MYS may be using gyms, pending weather conditions.
  • Change of clothes, pending weather conditions.
  • Glove.
  • Water.

What to do when you arrive at Assessments:

Check-in at registration desk to receive assessment number.

Check-in at uniform desk to confirm size of uniform. If you don't confirm your uniform size, you will be responsible for paying any additional replacement costs.

Follow instructions provided by Assessment coordinators.

Depending on the number of registrants, assessments may end early or go later. Parents are required to stay for the entire assessment session. Parents may want to bring a chair and umbrella.
