2025 Softball

MYS Softball is a female sport that runs from April through June. MYS runs their program through the Clackamas County Girls Softball Association League that is governed by USA Softball.

Registration fee includes a jersey, hat or visor, socks and belt. You will need to provide black softball pants. You will also receive a digital copy of an individual picture and team picture at no extra cost.

Practices are 2 evenings a week on a softball field in Molalla. Games are weekday evenings through out Clackamas County and are announced once the league releases the game schedule.

8U - (Ages 8 & Under)

A program designed for girls ages 7 to 8 years old to learn and develop fundamental softball  skills. Listed below is an overview of the skills coaches will be expected to teach and athletes should be able to perform the targeted skill for their appropriate grade level at the conclusion of the season. To achieve this goal, every team practice must be structured to continue building on what the athletes were introduced to in 8U/ 10U / 12U and will need to be able to compete at the 8U / 10U / 12U / 14U and Molalla High School Softball levels.

Offensive Skills:

  • Hitting / Bunting;
  • Plate Discipline;
  • Pitch Signs.
  • Base Running;
  • Tagging Up;
  • Stealing.

Defensive Skills:

  • Pitching;
  • Catching;

Infield:

  • Position Play;
  • Covering;
  • Ground Play;
  • Fly Balls / Communication.

Outfield:

  • Position Play;
  • Steps / Angle;
  • Covering;
  • Fly Balls / Communication.
  • Throwing / Catching.

Game Situations:

  • Bunt Defense;
  • First and Third Situations;
  • Cut-Off Situations;
  • Double Cut Situations.
  • Team Sportsmanship / Unity;

All skill levels welcome.

Uniforms: All new 8U players will need to order a jersey during registration, players keep their jerseys and can hopefully use them for several years. (Please purchase a pair of black softball pants to wear for games).

Requirement: All athletes are required to wear cleats.

  • No metal cleats allowed
  • Used Cleats: MYS Softball has some donated/used cleats available - email [email protected] to check sizes available.

Player Levels:

Team Selections:

Team selections will be made by MYS Board Liaison, MYS Program Representatives and MYS coaches.

  • Players will be contacted after teams and practice schedules have been finalized.

Season:

Spring Break - Mid June

School Closures

  • No School = Does Not Effect Practice Schedule

Practice: Tentatively set to begin the Week after Spring Break

  • 2 weeknights and/or weekends for 1-1 ½ - hours at Clark Park, Sheets Field, or Mulino Field.
  • Depending on the number of teams, it may be necessary to assign two teams to share an infield and open green space.

Games: TBD

2 weeknights.

Scores: Are Reported to CCGSA for Team Standings.

Invitational Tournaments:

Teams are encouraged to participate in tournaments on weekends. Teams are responsible for registering and paying tournament entry fees.
